BIG TIN FIRM Sun's move into more managed services gathers apace with the maker of software and hardware bits and bobs splashing out on an outfit called SevenSpace, writes Nick Farrell, from Bulgaria.

The buy will mean that Sun's Managed Services offerings will be broadened. Now it can add support for Hewlett Packard's legacy HP-UX and IBM's AIX systems, along with Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Linux.

A spokesSun said that 'one size fits all' outsourcing was history and will be replaced by Managed Services that improve service levels at reduced costs while allowing customers to maintain control of their competitive advantage.

The acquisition of SevenSpace builds upon Sun's "remote servicing expertise to extend to a world of new customers", the spokesSun waxed lyrically.
