I bought the funds in April this year. Historically, they have no correlation either to the market or to each other which is why I got them.

The funds I selected have performance records ranging from 8% to well over 35% in some years, but I chose them for consistency and for minimizing the drawdowns.

The firm I went through to buy them, Altegris, selects funds that do a good job of disclosure. Altegris was recommended by John Mauldin who puts out an excellent free weekly newsletter. The disclosures even tell you how many people left the funds and if they left in a profit or loss position.

For awhile, I was 7 out of 7 negative. Now it's 1 out of 7 negative. Even the fund with the most stable background got hit hard this last 6 months. Overall, it looks like I'll make a small amount of $ this year on the funds, but hardly more than money market unless they have a strong December.

At least they're headed in the right direction now!
