That is ridiculous. I've been singled out and "patted down" before flying twice. Both times I was searched by a female and they were both very professional. Some people will complain about anything. How many women are complaining? The article doesn't say. I'd like to read the complaints. If they don't want to be "humiliated" then they should use other means of transportation or stay home.
