Not for long. If the US economic picture continues to degrade, it will not be long before we witness carriers and subs parked rusting at their docks. (NG).

Russia went this route when their economy broke down. A large military that exceeds a country's ability to maintain becomes a "mill stone" fairly quickly. I don't see how the US avoids this as the rest of the world increasingly resists accepting US treasuries.
