Siouxpal.. I wish I could answer your question with some degree of certainty... but I cannot. My "feeling" which arises from my little inner voice.. tells me that the terrorists are cunning and patient beyond measure. The timing of 9/11 was not coincidental.. as we view 911 representative of crisis and emergency. I suspect that strikes will come on significant dates.. ie Christmas eve or New Years eve.. or New Years Day. It's their M O.
And that's it if they strike the US proper. Time square on New Years? The Vatican on Christmas? St. Patricks? Whatever they do, it will not be what they think we expect. Did anyone hear about Bush Sr's plane crashing on it's way to pick him up with a full crew of experienced members of the flight crew? What if... The thought crosses my mind that things might have exploded prematurely. Of course, anything could have caused that crash and the reports are not all in at this time. We just don't know. They were flying awfully low and clipped a light on a freeway overpass. But who knows for sure? It could just as easily been a botched attempt on the father of the sitting president.
See, they would pick indirect targets... When watching a magician, watch the hand that is not in front of your face for the real magic. It's my own peculiar pecadillo that makes me do that.. but I always have. And I always see more. It's not the hand in front of our faces holding the gun that will bring us the danger.
Again, they have threatened other countries and their strike just may be a less secure target in one of these supportive targets. With open societies, opportunities for chaos are rife.
So, to answer your question yes or no? I say probably.. but remember that we might never learn of it if it fails. I suspect that many terrorist efforts failed because they just didn't happen on schedule, someone got cold feet, or inadequate bomb making skills. I would worry about large crowds such as the super bowl, time square, or anyplace in middle America where we think we are the safest. Cargo shipping on airplanes does not have the security of passengers or luggage. It's a terror strike waiting to happen, n'estpas? |
