I don't think all Christians believe that. I think many see religion as a way to instill values in children and to provide a faith based coping mechanism to deal with tragedy or things we can't explain or have any control over. I just don't see that as all bad. Like anything else it can be taken to an extreme.

I don't see that analogy at all. Placing faith in a higher power (even if futile) is far greater than placing faith in a murderous dictator. The things Hitler did (in a very sick sense) probably did more to change the world for the better than anyone in the 20th century. I know that sounds crazy but his actions were so far out there that it gave the world a chance to combine forces against him because they realized just how evil his intent was. It made most world governments and people decide right then and there that we'd never go down that path again. Thats why I resist the Hitler/Bush analogy so much. The world has its problems (way too many to mention) but I think we have a better moral compass than we had 70 years ago.

Think about it like this....If I'm wrong and Bush is Hitler II, knowing how the globe responded to Hitler I, I think you can count on another advancement in our humanity and thinking. Of course that would mean the end of our society in the US but I don't believe Bush is the second coming of Hitler. Our country has lived through many divisions in the past when not everyone agreed with leadership and it will live through this one as well.
