A good investigative reporter could probably get an answer. At least he could ask better questions.

We might get answers, also, from the law suit which Gardner mentioned. Of course, everyone but the principals will have moved on by then.

As for Gardner, he should have a new job soon. He's probably already weighing offers.

I think the very small size of the company would have made it easy to make an overnight decision.

They could perhaps make a decision to fire Gardner for political reasons in a day. They couldn't make a decision to consolidate their territories and lay off several people in that time frame. That they dismissed several people at the same time shows up strongly in the Company's column.
