Clearly I disagree. The PC is something of a Swiss Army Knife, and that's ok if you must have only one tool, but you can spend your entire life administering them once you have more than a fairly small number.

The fact that iPod is doing as well as it is, when people could be buying PocketPCs instead, is an indication I'm right -- the move is away from the Swiss Army Knife concept and instead toward having a knife, a screwdriver, and a corkscrew (that work together where appropriate, but that you can use simultaneously, update as separate units without disrupting everything, and make much more compact and functional than the kludged do-everything device).

You can do everything with a Sun Ray and associated server that you can do with a PC. As soon as you have more than one, the Ray starts to show its strength. Call it a dumb terminal if you like; perhaps it's just the pendulum swinging back.

JMHO.
