I want the whole world to live long and prosper.

There is a point where oil will become scarcer. We can already synthesize gasoline. I hope that by the time the crunch comes, it will be cheap enough that a gradual shift to synthetics will not be too disruptive. But I do not envisage stealing anyone's oil to cure scarcity. Only an attempt to use oil in a crisis to hurt us might warrant any kind of action. Otherwise, as I said awhile back, I am in favor of promoting open markets in strategic commodities through diplomacy backed by military power, but mostly just want to buy on the open market.

I want the world to become more like America, with due respect for the heritage of individual countries and regions. I want them to enjoy liberal democracy and capitalist development.
