if ebay put a web search on every page they would have to use google to do it. Amazon did a search engine recently and had to use google except for their "in book" queries which sit on top. Ebay and Amazon don't write the spiders or webcrawlers or whatever they call them now to walk the entire web and categorize. Theres a bunch of infrastructure necessary to build that out
