Not that I need to revisit that 'ranty' day..Can't say enough how this kind of behaviour was unkown to me during my pedi ICU days..it was an insulated world where we cost the hospital money..our(the doc's) discoveries were not pps driving events..funds from other profitable disciplines kept us afloat..so the department administrators would quibble with the directors about the budget, 'you're not earning your keep!'..our directors' hearts were in the right place(60s liberals with labcoats..spent 16-36 hour days at the hospital..and they wrote the PICU Textbook during the 80s, the 'scandalous' things were when different institutions tried/succeeded in luring our staff..stock market stuff, hedgies, buy side analysts were not part of the package..even today.. PICU people I still keep in touch are too darn busy! and generally, the market is a mystery they'd rather delegate to a manager(friends at Childrens' are shocked when I tell them of my new venture..."what! how do you know what to do?"..
"aren't you scared?"<g>..stress: my(one person's experience in a very small part of the medical world..have not done a comprehensive multi-disicpline analysis..I have no doubt it will be brow-raising..an occupational hazard of knowing your stuff too well, imho..
