But evidently, Muslims would rather see a completely destroyed Iraq, rather than allow a democracy to spring up in the heart of their land.

Put yourself in their shoes and see what ya think.

Would Americans rather allow a Sharia law-based Muslim govening system to be imposed on them in the US, or see their beautiful American destroyed? If Saudi Arabia were the world's dominant military power, and America were only as powerful as Iraq was pre-invasion, that would be a possibility. Maybe the Saudi superpower invades the USA after a fanatical USA-based group blew up a major Saudi landmark. The theoretical Saudi Superpower would believe they are on a morally justified invasion of the US in order to liberate the Americans from democracy, and provide them with their God-given right to live under Sharia law. Muslim observers of this would wonder why the Americans are destroying things right and left, rather than celebrate their newfound blessing or Sahria-based governance?

It's not so pleasant when you look at it from the other side's viewpoint, is it?
