I think I very accurately described him. Some find him convincing, so he is a good propagandist. "well-documented" - he's very misleading about his documentation.
His denial of the Cambodian genocide was "well-documented" by referring to lying pro-Communist sources. Pretty typical. Like his claim in late 2001 that the US had begun, intentionally, committing genocide against the Afghan people. When one liar quotes another in some obscure report, that's "well-documented".
No, you didn't describe him accurately. You seem to have a very selective memory and you also have a predilection for parroting government propgaganda shit.
Regarding Cambodia, I must admit I don't know what he said or wrote. Would you be so good as to give some links to his opinions on Cambodia?
But, from what I have heard from my journalist friends in SE Asia who had been in Phnom Penh, the Cambodia episode was exaggerated way out of proportions by the US in order to smear the Cambodian authorities in order to justify American presence and so-called "counteraction" in Cambodia.
The more I think about it, the US has been no benign superpower ever since the end of World War II. Because of its morbid fear of Communism or any thing resembling it, the US has been creating and/or supporting friendly regimes and turning a blind eye when those regimes committed all manner of atrocities in their respective countries. Central American and South American countries are cases in point.
To return to Cambodia and Vietnam and Laos, there has been deceit foisted on the free world -- the US and all countries friendly to her: American carpet-bombing in Vietnam and Cambodia and Laos displaced thousands upon thousands of people in those countries. The American propaganda spin of the day was that the Communist forces were committing massacres and forcing refugees to flee from the Vietcong oppressors & etc. This spin was to justify American involvement in those countries and to save America's "face" after her Vietnam fiasco!
I wish to write more. But I am hard pressed for time as I have other fish to fry, so to speak.
However, for your edification, here are some links:-

Oh, and by the way, after reading manalagi's posts to you and yours to him, I can very well understand manalagi's metaphor about wrestling with a porcine critter! LOL |
