George Bush is paying a diplomatic visit to the Queen. He asks her how the British manage to have such efficient government.
"Why, we surround ourselves with the brightest people", replies the Queen.
Bush asks: "How do you do that?"
"We ask potential government officials a skill-testing question", says the Queen. "Just watch"...and she summons Tony Blair.
"Tony, if your mother and father have a child, and that child isn't your brother or sister, who is it?"
Blair replies: "Why it's me, your majesty!"
Impressed, Bush decides to try this out for himself. When he gets back to the USA he summons Dick Cheney and asks him: "Dick. if your mother and father have a child and it isn't your brother or sister, who is it?"
Stumped, Cheney says he'll have to ask his staff and get back to the preident. No one seems to have an answer until he asks Collin Powell. "Colin, if your mother and father have a child, and it isn't your brother or sister, who is it?"
"Why, it's me Mr. Vice President", says Powell.
Happy to finally have an answer, Cheney immediately rushes to the Oval Office. "Mr. President, Mr. President! I talked to my staff and I have an answer to your question! If that child isn't my brother or sister, then it's Collin Powell!"
Enraged, Bush fires back: "You idiot Cheney! The answer is Tony Blair!". |
