same store sales do not show total profit or loss. They can be making a fortune or losing their ass based on SSS and one would never know. The metric makes sense to me only in context of other numbers. Those other numbers are seldom given. They can also be distored by closing and opening of stores. Close 20 stores cause you are loing your ass on them and voilla SSS goes up. Perhaps you are still losing your ass on the others but not as badly. Mish
