You are wise to recognize that. Perhaps the best proposal to repair the problem with Social Security is to eliminate the lawmakers' free ride retirement account and merge it into SS. A one term Senator like Breck Boy can look forward to a fat lifetime pension with COLA adjustments and it is all free of contribution requirements. The legislative branch has voted themselves the keys to the treasury.

Maybe we could tie any minimum wage increases into a requirement that every American worker be required by law to contribute a minimum to a 401k or similar account.
