Notes: Re:new solicitation. NAVSEA intends to issue the solicitation on approximately 23 December 2004 for a period of 45 days. In order to accommodate questions, the Performance Specification and SOW will be released prior to the solicitation for review and comments. The initial increment of this system *must immediately* provide the ability to support stand-alone operations for a single vessel and must be designed to be ultimately integrated within multi-ship and/or shore side AT/FP envelopes. This system should be modular and expandable and should support installation / operation on multiple ship classes / platforms** within the Navy. SPS Increment I shall incorporate a spectrum of non-lethal and lethal response capabilities to warn, dissuade/deter, deny, determine intent, interdict, ..... functions for both own-ship and own-ship deployable assets 2) A capability to hail and warn small boat crews and surfaced swimmers Acoustic Hailing Devices (AHDs). Hailing devices shall meet the requirement as illustrated in Appendix B and shall be capable of being employed singularly, in combination, or as part of integrated lethal/non-lethal capabilities. Audio long range warnings1 Surface Craft: 500 yds Surface Craft: 1 kyds Note (1): Audio devices must have an output that is discernable at the threshold / objective ranges with a background noise of 60 dBA. ---- *seem to be in a hurry, and LRAD is capable of significantly exceeding the 60dBA at the desired distances. Don't know of any other practical hailing system that can do so. The RFI has taken place, so now, the solicitation for proposals will be issued on Dec. 23rd, with only 45 days to respond with bid proposals.
