I don't think our discussion of abortion is serving any interest at all, E, so perhaps we should drop it.
"Oh yes, and many of them support Bush specifically because he believes in mandatory gestation of zygotes to term."
In regard to your quote that you found again, what I am arguing is that when you say things like "mandatory gestation of zygotes to term", it IS inflammatory because it unnecessarily insults people who don't believe in abortion, and it is scientifically totally inaccurate. It makes the pro-choice movement seem ridiculous, something I'm pretty sure you don't want to do, because it so stereotypically represents the most extreme part of the movement. Zygotes to term? They are not zygotes, they are babies. Most rational people believe this (especially at term). I am just saying, why polarize anything even further? How are we going to find any common ground as the country turns more conservative and abortion rights are back on the table for discussion? I don't think it's a good strategy. Unfortunately, I've forgotten why you brought this up in the first place, however, so perhaps I'm not making my (or any) point successfully here.
I have already stated that I don't believe spontaneous miscarriages are murder, because there is no intent to destroy a fetus, to answer your question (again). Not sure why you keep bringing this up.
Whether you want to argue that it is growth (my term) or development (your term) that happens after an egg is fertilized, the fact remains that regardless of how small the fetus is, if you have an abortion it dies. Since there is INTENT in the woman's decision, in my reality this makes the act murder. Make whatever you need to of it for yourself--I don't expect we'll agree.
You are citing a lot of "evidence" that is anecdotal--your friends' and relatives' abortion experiences--and seemingly holding them up as scientific evidence of your position, while discrediting my anecdotal story, which is just a single cautionary tale, and my long article about the results of several studies, which I certainly consider valid and full of scientific evidence. I don't automatically discount all information just because it comes from any particular source, or label it propaganda as you do. A lot of those studies were by various European governments, for example.
I am not sure why, but it doesn't even seem to register with you that I support early abortions. Since this is going nowhere, let's stop talking about it. |
