In my opinion, it makes no difference, in fact, no-one, except possibly the architects or civil engineers who built WTC, can be expected to know with any degree of accuracy what the metal was.

What is important is that the shower of metallic fragments could only have resulted from a force which was able to disrupt their original structure, in other words, an explosion.
