<<The fact is that Bush is a fascist>>

Ya know, I just don't see the basis for that remark. It seems to me that both before and since the elections people have been making statements from the fringes rather than from the center. Let me toss out a couple of examples and see if you can see my POV.

All I've heard since the elections were over is that Christians and rednecks put Bush in office. As a person who voted for bush I can't help but feel both of those terms are meant as derogatory. I believe in God but I would hardly call myself a "good Christian" and I'm certainly not a redneck. I think I'm a pretty fair minded guy until I feel like I've been cornered or attacked for my beliefs. I believe thats a fairly normal human characteristic. To me I believe this election was symbolic of something that people are overlooking - Tradition. In the past 30 years I think America has come a long way in its thinking. It's not perfect but it's one hell of a lot more open than it was. So when I speak of a symbolic election let me elaborate a little. I don't believe the electorate is filled with rednecks or ignorant people who follow blindly. I think its filled with people who are coming to terms with the many changes that have already taken place in out culture. Thus to a degree I think their vote was symbolic of people who need to digest all the changes before they ramp up for even greater changes like gay marriage. In the past gays we viewed as sexual perverts. Now, people are openly gay and most people I know (while they may make jokes behind closed doors) say what people do in their own bedroom is up to them. Thats a HUGE step and because of that I believe most traditional Americans are saying let us come to grips and perfect the changes already made before we face a host of new changes and issues that come with those changes.

Another thing I'd like to talk about is Canada. I love Canada and I could live there because its beautiful. Canadians have always made me feel welcome and treated me well. So if you love Canada and feel its a better place for you to live I have no problem with that But the response I've seen since the election is bothersome. People (democrats) now want to move to Canada because they hate Bush and the Christian rednecks who support him. It leaves me questioning them as people. After all - this is the party that embraces diversity. Not only do they embrace it they expect the entire country to embrace it. Diversity has become the replacement word for PC in the 2000's. Now I don't have a problem with diversity. What I have a problem with is that the same people screaming for diversity seem to be so intolerant of Christians or anyone who doesn't agree with their POV that they'd be willing to leave our country. What does that say about their belief in diversity? Is diversity only good when people agree with you? If so thats not diversity. Is diversity only applied to people with different skin color? If so thats not diversity. Diversity by its very meaning (in political context) is people of different ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds coming together and deciding a single direction for what they believe is best for our nation. Well guess what - diversity spoke and for some people that means they didn't get the leader they desired. So do we just toss the idea of diversity out the window when it doesn't go our way? Do we leave our country when diversity speaks and doesn't side with out POV? If so I think the people preaching diversity had better do some soul searching and find out just how committed they are to diversity.
