I think we decided that wingnut was sweet and affectionate, really, and not a horrible thing to call anyone. I believe the logical basis of this decision (on my part, at least) was that a wingnut could be from either the left or the right wing.

Further, as my may recall, I asked Bill, who is the person who got called a wingnut, and he said it was a badge of honor or something for him to be called one.

This is sort of like the old philosophical question about whether, when a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? In other words, if no one takes offense, is it name calling? I certainly don't mind being called a crazed leftist or whatever. It sort of comes with the territory of arguing politics in a place where there are very polarized opinions being debated.
