When a black woman is treated like any other individual and graded by her actions and not because she's the only black woman in the admin with great power....THAT will be the death of bigotry.

It's color, gender, ethnicity, etc. blindness that we should be headed towards. Unfortunately, we're headed in the wrong direction.

I heard an interesting point: why didn't Iraq's political parties separate by occupation (for example) instead of down ethnic lines? That would have made it less likely than what is apparently going to be the case (and which the Bush administration is throwing up their hands about) that Iraq will end up being Iran-lite: a mild theocracy.

So the secular Baathist dictatorship becomes the theocratic Shiite autocracy. If Bush/Rummy/Rice and the other incompetents du jour had sent in 3Xs the number of troops, Iraq might have become a secular liberal representative democracy.

Sad.
