I see I pushed a button. :)

The reality is, NASCAR is a spectator sport for the millions. All my life I've prefered to engage in sports that put me in the danger zone. Alpine skiing, whitewater kayaking, etc.

I've never enjoyed sports that have the twin characteristics of winner-takes-all and massive sedentary distraction for the uninvolved.

I like my sports silent, potentially deadly and certain to raise my adrenaline level. :)

In an era when the U.S. must maintain huge standing armies engaged in dirty, immoral, murderous and perpetual wars in order to secure access to 2/3 of our motor fuels, I question the sanity of America's choices in extravagantly energy intensive spectator sports.
