Don't bother trying to tell me what I despise and do not. The history of our discussions tells me you'll get it near 100% wrong anyway. Citizens should be outraged at some of the things that have been done in the name of "America" but sadly most are too occupied by the latest "Desperate Housewives" to care. Citizens should be aware of what we've done in the past to ensure that we do not make the same mistakes in the future, yet most are not - happy to carry on our SUV driven, Starbucks-fueled lives, blissfully unaware of just how wrong we have been and can be. Standing up for the country does not require being an apologist for atrocities which have been done in the name of the country. Do you approve of the atrocities committed in the Philippines 100 years ago, or do these things, in the light of this modern age, seem repugnant now? What about Vietnam? Was blowing up a Iranian civilian airliner a good thing? Giving arms to Iran? Supporting Osama Bin Laden? Looking back we can see many tragic and avoidable errors - mostly committed by dogmatic ideologues or those whose ability to wield power outweighed their ability to think, yet apologist like you were willing to stick up for them at the time. How comfortable are you that 25 or 50 years from now what we are doing today will be viewed in a scrupulously benevolent light?
