Old folks don't have to go homeless and hungry. We can still have enforced retirement savings like social security, but the payout will only be however much you pay in, plus whatever interest it earns. As it stands now, social security does not work that way. Today's working generation is paying for today's retirees. That to me is stealing, or put more nicely, socialism. We can be smarter about social security and ensure it lasts forever, if we move away from socialism and towards market precepts.
