Yes. The simple rule is attack the message, not the messenger.

Obviously, some statements are false at face value. However, if we were to take some action solely on the basis of whether a message is untruthful, even if we know it to be such, then it could be inferred that by not acting on a message we are taking a position that it's truthful. That's a slippery slope that leads nowhere but dark, rocky places with lots of sharp edges.
