Gary Swancey was a pioneer in how he used the Internet to promote companies he truly believed in. Although Gary's favorite companies didn't always end up being solid investments, what set him apart was his sincerity. He wasn't one of those types that sold while you bought. Gary and I spent our early lives here on SI mostly sitting on opposite sides of the fence. After a while, though, we ended up being close enough to talk on the phone probably a dozen or so times. He was always quick to acknowledge that he often was a bit too trusting of people (which is an indictment of society, not him), but somehow had the moral fortitude to confront those that betrayed him and help bring them to justice. The great thing about Gary was that he had a great passion for his work and loved to talk about it. He taught me a great deal. May he rest in peace. - Jeff
