This must be one of those new (old) traditionalist churches. I see it blends Catholic and Episcopalian and is very conservative.
It might be easier to buy my own incense as you do, put on a hat, and mutter a few Latin phrases. I can remember some. The first sentence I ever learned in first year Latin was Agricola est in aqua (the farmer is in the water). I was so proud of being able to say something in a real foreign language (I am from the mountains of Va, what can I say?) that I used it as a response to everything that was said to me at home that night, changing my tone and inflection to indicate mood.
I don't know how my parents stood me.
