Obviously these Greeks and Romans were water-obsessed peoples.

For sheer titillation, Ovid takes the prize. We translated the Metamorphoses and some of the Amores in college. (6th year Latin- what was I thinking? I probably still thought it was a real language and I could get a job at the UN as a translator.)

Breasts formed as if they were made for pressing!
How flat the belly beneath the slender waist!
What flanks, what form! What young thighs!
Why recall each aspect? I saw nothing lacking praise
and I hugged her naked body against mine.
Who doesn’t know the story?
Weary we both rested.
