On linux you download and install application and also jre from sun.

Linux Instructions:

      Instructions
          o After downloading open a shell and,  cd to the directory where you downloaded the installer.
          o At the prompt type:  sh ./JAlbuminstall.bin 

      Notes
          o You need to install a Java 1.3 (or later) virtual machine. You can download one from Sun's Java web site or contact your OS manufacturer.
