Stephen; Is Apple committing seppuku?, a ritual suicide after seeing the doom and gloom it has decided to end it all, cut off the clones and after the bankruptcy spill the entrails with trusted friend Jobs there just in case it gets too messy.<GGG>

The Apple upgrade path is a mere shadow of what you can do far cheaper with the Wintels(if you have a standard box, Compaq, IBM, Dell, forget it, there is no upgrade path) Any part, card, case, KB etc can be bought from a different place, and integrated into a standard system.
That is the only way to save Apple, wide open standard. As long as Apple gets the CPU bite and the OS bite, live on it. Look at Intel, only the CPU bite, and Microsoft, only the OS bite. They did well, and so can Apple. They have the funds to implement it, and let it run and then profit by it.
