foo,

It has been quite a while since I explored Calvinism, but I do recall a phrase like the one you consider redundant. If I recall, it was descriptive of someone who took Calvinism to the extreme (not a difficult thing to do I would guess, but wait, if I'm a Calvinist I don't need to guess, hmmm).

Anyway, don't get me wrong on the cycles. I am a firm believer in hundreds of different cycles. I just don't think gold has any cycle remotely predictable based on 9 years, or 5 years or whatever. If there was a 9 year cycle in grains, I would explore the reasons why, and maybe a scientific basis (like a natural predator that emerges every 9 years) could be found to explain it. Gold, maybe more than anything else that is traded or coveted, is subject to the vested interests of the powers that be, i.e. the Fed and central bankers everywhere.

Anyway, enough of that.

One of the most interesting things about the Shed is the focus on EW and TA. Again, IMO, Gold, more than anything coveted or traded, must be assessed on the basic of FA. The reason is that every central banker in the world with a vested interest in the protection of their fiat is going to create artificial stimulus to effect Gold whenever it is required.

One of my favorite articles in the past year was Paul Van Eeden's multiple-part discussion on the real value of gold (in todays dollars). From a FA perspective Gold is the steal of the decade. Thank you central bankers. Maybe that information is in a chart somewhere, but I can't see it.

I found NSP recent EW on POG very interesting. Looking backwards EW makes perfect sense to me. I just have trouble looking forward with it. NSP chart from this weekend was pretty clear. Hope he is right.
