Disk Doublers... our scars almost gone now. Technician (DOS) fowled by one when they first appeared. Equis techs didn't know what to do, so they said, "what problem". In this case Technician was not even on the compressed group. Turned out to be the name of a file that was part of the compression system. Change the name and Tech started breathing.
This has been an informative discussion today. It seems now that my road to happiness lies with leaving the current AMD 5x86, Win95, all that software that likes Win95 in the box and on my not-so-old IDE 1.2 GB. Some things will have to be deleted, but some belong anyway on that new FIC PA-2007 & K6 (coming in next week)& EIDE 3.1 GB (I have) & Win NT 4 (don't have).
This way I have a backup computer since giving the last one to a student. Also that means two less MIDI related boards in the new one, Cakewalk will be happy and not need upgrade of related hardware/software which will help pay for a new Floppy, CD-ROM drive, tape backup, case, NT 4.... kinda.
See, these problems are so easily solved.... with the $ for intended for that laptop. :{ |
