John, so you read my post, but couldn't find a smidgen of merit in asking people to contribute even a penny of their savings towards a matching?

Your solution is all take. Not even a penny worth of compromise to ask people to try to save, which is most unlike you.

At some point the frugal people might start thinking China (a country that saves 40%) fits them better than a country that selfishly and recklessly saves only 2%.

If our savings rate were 40%, people wouldn't be asking them to save more. But when the savings rate is irresponsibly only 2%, it's irresponsible not to ask people to save more.
