That may well be true. I wasn't trying to assert that the military and government were bigger liars than salesmen, I was only pointing out that they were liars.

The problem is, of course, twofold. One problem rests in the fact that they lie but the other rests on the fact that so many of us give deference and suspend our disbelief when the lies come from "officials" in the government as opposed to "salesmen." I can't count the number of times when simply unbelievable assertions from our government have been presented as substantiated fact on this board.

That's why the military and the Administration are able to do one thing and call it something entirely different and so many ignore what they're doing and accept what they call it.

I've read a number of posts that assert that our military and civilian leadership are staffed with ethical, honest and moral spokesman who tell the truth. The record is replete with real life examples that belie both assertions but the assertions continue. If it wasn't so sad it would be hilariously funny. Ed
