When the palestinians were looking for much the same--the ability to say they drove the israelis out of gaza for instance, the israelis were killing off the terrorists one by one. Israel will leave gaza but there is no palestinian who thinks they drove them out.
In iraq, there would have to be a few more falujahs as well as an ablility to drop a bomb right down zarquawis throat but as a realist i know this wont happen. If the time comes all we will be able to say is that we freed iraq from saddam, queasy and sleazy--could have gone on for another 50 years; freed the kurds hopefully forever, and the shiaa as well. Thats an accomplishment but the iraqi version of hamas will still be able to say they drove us out. If our current level of force and the elections dont produce desired results its time to "get outta the way if we cant lend a hand" and deal with it. Mike
