No. I took it for granted that she IS REAL and that she DID say it. I agree with you that it is a silly expression (as I said). Kids do repeat what their parents say. But they also repeat stuff from popular games. The word "curse" is popular in mythology. It is probably popular in "Harry Potter"--though I confess I know none of Harry. For my youth it was the Hardy Boys--Frank, Joe, and Chet! They had "curses" in that series, too. And, of course---TOM SWIFT--which is where I learned to be scientific, and to solve problems with science and reason!
