I don't find secular crismus offensive, I find it insane.

Seems to me that the simple solution is to separate Christmas from all the secular stuff. We could do the tree and the presents and the secular parties on the solstice or on New Years and let Christmas be a religious holiday. That should suit both the Non-Christians and the purist Christians. Of course the majority of people in the middle, who comfortably merge mangers and Xmas trees, might be inconvenienced because they'd have to arrange two family gatherings or choose between the two.

And it might contribute to national obesity if families consume two turkeys... <g>
