Somebody should tell Chafee that things are going really, really well in Iraq. All he and the public need to do is read the local true believers or find the right warbloggers to get their news from.

I noticed this AP story on the Baghdad airport rode a few days ago: cleveland.com The thrilling conclusion:

Despite the increasing dangers, the airport road has taken on greater importance for foreign diplomats, journalists and Iraqis because the dreadful security situation elsewhere precludes using other routes into and out of the country.

But things are going really well, I hear. Officially, there's a way around this particular problem: From U.S. Embassy Bans Use of Airport Road , washingtonpost.com

An embassy spokesman said Thursday that U.S. personnel who need to travel between the airport and the embassy, which is in the heavily fortified area known as the Green Zone, would be transported by helicopter.
