I was aware of the extent to which Native Americans practiced agriculture. Thanks for posting the site, though. My grandfather loved their cultures, would sit me on his knee when I was tiny and show me huge books I could not lift filled with the costumes, weapons, and art of the different tribes. I don't think most Americans realize how diverse different tribes were, or how sophisticated, or what a great loss it is that white culture destroyed them in such a cruel manner.

Native American hunting practices have never offended me. Every part of the animal was used, the animal spirits were respected and even worshipped, the gift the animal gave appreciated. In fact, hanging over my bed I have a treasure I inherited from my grandfather--a buffalo skull with a red sun painted in the center of the forehead with ochre. It is from the Battle of Little Big Horn, and it was a good luck talisman for the braves.
