I would think it could be helpful, but other times I can see patients second-guessing or insisting on treatments.
Being an educated patient is always a good thing, but I think it's a problem if the patient begins diagnosing and prescribing for himself. Like with all the drugs advertised on tv now.

Why do the drug companies need to advertise for Rx drugs-- it's incredibly expensive, and wouldn't the money be better spent on the research- the need for which they say is behind the high prices? My allergist told me people are always coming in demanding drugs they see on tv and they get irritated if he won't comply.
