Alighieri, why don't you face the SS problem.

The article you posted does a disservice to the true problems of SS.

You should acknowledge this.

Krugman has done a great disservice here. There will be a lot of Democratic Economists that will be wondering what the hell has Krugman done by minimizing the problem. A problem that took these guys more than a decade to get permission to release to the public - because no Congressional person had the strength to make any sitting President look bad. Our govt hides their problems. I know this for a fact.

Krugman should have stayed focused on the 500,000 tax cuts. THAT part was GREAT. Krugman is a very good writer by finding out these hidden things, but he's much too far away from the SSA economists and the problems with SS.

I'd like to see him do an about face and stay consistent with the fact that SS has serious problems (especially for those people in America that cannot handle a 33% reduction payout, especially when they only live on 955/mo).

Then Krugman should point his gun at the tax cuts. Definitely so.

But he also needs to respect partial privatization because Democrats in my generation want it. Just because some of the boomers like him don't (because their benefits won't be cut), doesn't mean Krugman can ignore my generation and how different we are. We do not trust the govt and we want SOME of our money in our own names because we believe we will get nothing. Gen X doesn't trust SS, just like Gen X doesn't trust corporate pensions. He needs to get a clue to this.

Regards,
Amy J
