RE: "Krugman is telling us to fund the GD thing and quit whining about it"

Alighieri, you probably are wondering why I'm having the reaction I'm having, but it boils down to how I am painfully aware of how many years and years and years it took the SSA economists to finally convince Congress to mention the problem. Congress didn't want to, because they don't want to look bad, they want votes. You have no clue how the SS problem was a politically hot potatoe that no one wanted to touch. It took the economists decades to get permission to release this info to the public.

You have absolutely no clue what gets hidden from the public.

Further, you have no clue how the economists get threatend that they'll lose their jobs if they talk to the media. THIS is how our govt works.

RE: "A socially responsible society owns up to its obligations its elders"

And that's exactly what this plan does. It does not change the current elder situation nor anyone above 54.

But it does give my generation the ability to put a little money in our own name, because frankly, we very well know what the SS economic models say for our generation. Very well, we do indeed.

Krugman screwed up in his article. He should have focused on how the problem is severe (just like all his economic buddies think) and then he should have gone heavy on blasting away on the tax cuts. THAT's what he should have done.

Regards,
Amy J
