I don't think we are in a religious war. Perhaps you are in one, but I'm not. Some Muslims are in a religious war, but a lot of them are just really pissed off at having their country invaded (and before we invaded Iraq, many other Muslims felt the US was trying to control their region, as we were).

Is it wrong for the Us to try to control other regions in order to secure its oil supply, which happens to lie underneath other countries? Well, if you happen to be in those other countries it probably looks wrong. Religion is only one component in a very large struggle over resources, imo.

If you see it for what it is, I think you become less angry at any particular group of people, and more focused on solutions. Will the solutions necessarily be the goody basket for the US that people in the US might wish they were going to be? Probably not.
