I am optimistic that there will be either civil war, an islamic theocracy, or a very repressive dictator in Iraq- is that the kind of optimism you were looking for?

I am pessimistic that the US will be able to bring anything like western style democracy to Iraq. I also very much doubt we will ever be able to control what our US leaders call "the insurgency"- but which is more probably a nationalistic response to an American invasion.

My guess? Bush has an "election" that isn't much of an election, turns tail and runs, and calls it "victory".
