ionesco,

Re: My guess? Bush has an "election" that isn't much of an election, turns tail and runs, and calls it "victory".

Your guess is wrong. Bush has absolutely no intention of giving up Iraq's oil prize. After all, he stole it fair and square.

Countering your view as to an American withdrawl you have plenty of counter-evidence.

1) Most of the construction since the illegal invasion has been of U.S. military bases.

2) Major planning documents are readily available for public consumption, such as Brzezinski's "The Grand Chessboard", PNAC's "Rebuilding America's Defenses", Perle's "A Clean Break", G. Bush's "National Security Strategy" and more. Each of these documents lays out the basis for empire. With the neo-cons claiming a "mandate" in the election (an extremely dubious proposition) makes empire-building the highest agenda of the White House, closely followed by the senseless and mean-spirited destruction of social programs in the "Homeland" military sector.

3) Half of your prediction is correct. The so-called election will have zero legitimacy.
