Dan et all, big news from infrastructure, here it is****** techweb.com
There are a few companies that we have our eye on right now that have a presence in the memory business. During the fourth quarter of 1996, we added the shares of Ramtron (RMTR) to the INFRASTRUCTURE Monthly Model Portfolio at prices below $5. We also have exposure to the shares in our Daily Note Portfolio. We have been forced to exercise a great deal of patience with the stock, but, today, the ferroelectric memory ramp we have mentioned frequently in our monthly publication is beginning to take shape. We should note that the size of the rally in Ramtron shares pales in comparison to the skyrocketing price of another memory design house, namely Rambus (RMBS). Rambus, like Ramtron, is a design house that has inked royalty contracts with just about every major memory manufacturer and has been blessed by Intel (INTC) as a provider of next generation memory technology. Although we missed the rally in Rambus, we feel there is reasonable long-term potential for investors interested in speculating on the shares of Ramtron.
Ultimately, the acceptance of Ramtron's ferroelectric product line rests with the DRAM manufacturers. We believe the industry will soon grasp the benefits of this technology. Additional light will be shed during the month of September as Rohm presents their FRAM road map for attendees of SEMICON/Taiwan. At the NYSSA meeting it was mentioned that any FRAM device Rohm sells should fall under Ramtron's patent portfolio. Speaking of patents, Ramtron currently holds 95 U.S. and international patents for ferroelectric products and has 90 new applications filed.
Big news, great news, hopefully someone reads it and buys Monday, the pullback was expected. Has anyone got any info on the Benton shares? Are they being privately placed? If these shares do not hit the market,RMTR could take off in Sept.
