CDCO's going up on hype. News of their plans to enter Japanese Caller ID market next year, and Robertson Stephens initiating coverage with a "buy" is making people irrational. iPhone uses InfoGear technology. For iPhone to work, InfoGear's ServerGear must be integrated into an ISP, allowing certain data to be stripped before being sent to iPhone. With a 14-baud modem, iPhone needs a B/W screen to be functional, since color would slow it down too much. In future, iPhone will have color, and ServerGear will be in "color" mode. But with Nortel's announcement of their upcoming webphone having a color screen and 33-baud modem, it looks to me like Cidco better revamp its plans or iPhone may be obsolete next year.
