Raymond,
That's a very good idea. BTW, what was the diameter? I also did something similar with my tile work last winter.
To set the "scene", as one of my hobbies, I inlay or sometimes cement broken pieces of tile or tumbled, broken, colored glass in a design on concrete stepping stones which I have made. If I inlay them, the pieces have to be placed while the concrete is wet and the designs are not quite as intricate. If I just make a blank, then I glue the pieces to the dried concrete and grout in between. This method can result in quite complicated patterns. Most of my designs have a "southwest" look.
But I also made a peace symbol on one stone out of beautiful tumbled glass, I ordered on line. The symbol itself was pearly white set in a mosaic of many colors of brilliant pieces of glass. Quite nice I might add .. <g>..
I also made a rock "peace garden" scene with a peacock (colorful) as the main "character" and numerous small birds, animals, insects, etc. living in harmony with a large snake amongst many beautiful and colorful flowers attached to vines. This is quite complicated and hard to describe. But the whole thing is made up of a mosaic of 9 individual 12"x12" stepping stones so that the whole scene is 3' by 3'. Each individual block scene ties to the next. I used a lot of small pieces of tile on this one..
Here is where I order the stuff from. I have had really good luck with them..

Maybe Santa will bring me a tumbler for Xmas so I can make some of my own stuff.. We did go to a big flea market and bought a bunch of cheap old colorful plates to break which I didn't have the nerve to do yet. They were too nice ..:)
I better go back to work..
