Amy, Carter's years were very responsible years, they didn't pass their massive debt to the next generation.

Carter's years were marked with double-digit inflation, economic recession, and a general pessimism about America's stature in the world.

If this is a good thing because it supposedly set the foundation for Reagan's prosperity, then the excesses of Clinton's second term should be considered a bad thing because it left Dubya with a real mess to clean up.
